Whenever one asks a liberal why they dislike the Republicans, they'll be the first to indicate "they only help the rich" or "they take care of the rich people". This makes some remote amount of sense when applied to the idea that the wealthiest 3% are often Republican voters and also are those who make campaign donations to the party. Yesterday Democrat Mayor Nutter of Philadelphia levied a hike on metered parking in the city of Philadelphia. This most notably punishes his constituents. First, I ask myself why they repeatedly hurt their voters, but more importantly I ask myself why their voters don't see it!
When I confronted a neighbor about his opinion on this issue, he quickly came to Nutter's defense indicating that "the man has to do something[to balance the struggling budget]". Had this been a Republican mayor, I am certain the same person would have said to me "look at your evil Republicans punishing the working class"
